  1. Do Not Limit Yourself

Self-limitation is very bad. Do not have the belief that you will not pass the examination but instead be pessimistic. Setting limits drain self-confidence which will later result in failure, even in tests that are meant to be passed on a normal day. Have a positive mind set, set the desired goals, work on them and you will actually get that desired grades. Do not be scared of that exam at hand in which you are preparing for. Having a positive mind aids one’s reading, studying and broadens the rate of assimilation.  Also, learn not to see the examiner as your enemy but see him as your friend and teacher who is only interested in your success. 1. Understand The Nature of The Examination

It is important to understand the nature and form of the exam you are about to write, find out the likely questions to be asked, the proportion of the marks to be allocated to each question and the key topics in the syllabus.  Also, get to know the examiner’s favorite questions and the topics at which much attention is being given. After these discoveries, master them, read and fully understand the nature of each course. Avoid cramming so as to avoid brain fatigue and to avoid falling into the traps of some examiners that detest the act. (War Against Examination Malpractice)

  1. Memorise Key Words and Formulae

Memorising the keywords in your notes, textbooks, hand-outs and the materials given by the teachers or examiners. Having formulae for keywords helps to grabs the points easily, enhances remembrance and reduces the tendency of forgetting the important and necessary points in the notes. These keywords or formulas should be written in jotters and placed by the sides or when they can easily be seen. They can also be indicated by colored markers so as to make them more attractive and catchy to the eyes.

  1. Taking Down of Notes

As students preparing for an examination, it is important to jot down points and the summary of the topics when reading, so that there will not be the need of carrying big loads of books when the examination period is near. All you need for revision is just the jotter or small notes which would have contained the cogent concepts needed for success. One can also make jottings in the language that is easily understood. The advantage of taking down note is that the higher percentage of what is being read will be brought into remembrance in the examination hall. The portability of the small notes will also ease examination tension compared to the voluminous textbooks and notes. (The Importance Of Parental Support On Education)

  1. 5. Practice Past Questions and Be Time Conscious.

Getting and practicing relevant past questions with their answers are another ways of excelling in tests or examinations. Senior colleagues, friends or lectures can be consulted for the solutions to the difficult questions. The past questions can also be discussed with mates in form of tutorials. Do not have the habits of segregating topics by practicing the simple and attractive ones. The difficult and those ones that are believed to be boring should also be practiced. Timing is also essential when providing answers to past questions. When working on past questions, it is good to have a stopwatch for timing. The time set for questions should be lesser than that of the examiner and should be worked with. You need to be realistic when setting time, make adjustments and be used to the time. Another pertinent factor to be very cognisant of is the way we present our answers to the examiner. The main and correct answers to the questions should be provided instead of beating around the bush. A student preparing for an examination should be skillful in writing. Hand writings should be eligible and attractive. Illustrations and diagrams can be used to spice up answers, the use of ambiguous words, frequent or rough cancellation of mistakes should be avoided. Mistakes made should be crossed out neatly.  Attractive scripts always make it easier to be marked by the examiner, which can attract more marks.
